3. PILATES & OSTEOPATHY COURSE - JUNE /09 - Vancouver B.C.
Kathleen attended a 32 hour Osteopathic Pilates Rehab Course with Colleen Jorgensen D0., of Core Basics, Quebec. The results after taking this course are that Kathleen has a whole new set of eyes when looking at the spine. She understands on a more profound level than before what it means to look at her clients and truly work with them from the INSIDE OUT. Incorporating more manual and evaluation skills and intelligent movement choices, she has an enhanced approach to her client’s program design with an entirely new and fresh perspective.
For those interested, this deeply explorative course covered:
- Ways to enhance palpation (touching) and analysis skills
- Program design from an Osteopathic view including: evaluation, postural scanning, surface anatomy and interpretation of medical history
- Exercise prescription based on medical history
- How to evaluate the functional mobility of the spine
- Exercise variations to add more spine extension, rotation and lateral flexion to the traditional Pilates' repertoire
- Somatovisceral relationships of the Spine as they relate to Pilates movements
